Brown vs. Black Smokey eye!

So part season is here! Its officially december which means this month is full of parties, gatherings & celebrations. The smoky eye in the infamous party look, however something people seem to struggle with is choosing whether do do or a black or brown smokey look.

^Black smokey^  &  ^Brown Smokey^

The Advantages of the brown smokey eye is that its softer and more wearable, its good for all events and is a great look on all skin tones. The other advantages is that you can just deepen up the colours you probably already have lying about in your makeup collection somewhere!

The advantages of a black smokey eye is that it enhances key features and brings out the colour in your eye's. Although its more daring it looks stunning for a party and many celebrities wear it!

Wear black smokey eye if:
- you want to make your eyes stand out.
- you've practised and are sure it will look good and not smudge!
- you love your outfit and want your eyes to pop!
- your willing to be daring!
- you love how pixie lott & beyonce look!

Wear brown smokey eye if:
- You have small eyes, black will only make them look smaller!
- you would rather have your lips a bright colour.
- you love wearing gold tones and want match it to your eyes!
- you are just learning about makeup.
- you want a softer look.

Here are 2 celebrity looks with black & brown smokey eyes.

Christmas Style #1

As christmas is rapidly approaching, the demand for ideas on christmas and winter style is rising. So this is a series featuring a few of my friends and me & our styles for christmas and winter time! The first is for a formal party that my friend holly is going to, hope this series helps you!

Holly's outfit is simple but reflects more than one of this winters trends. Texture is a big part of this seasons trends , along with gem tones (ruby, emerald, Sapphire etc) & hollys dress really goes along with this trend! Its a velvet Sapphire dress that looks classy and elegant but the sleeves and short length keeps it looking young and modern.

She kept the outfit simple with a delicate bracelet and her hair up in a bun which reflects the trend of earlier this year - the birds nest, but a little more elegant. Her shoes are black peep toes with an ankle strap and made from suede.

Her makeup is just a brown smokey eye and subtle pink lip to go along with the classy look.

Things i asked holly..

Why do you like your outfit?
"Its simple and classy, but draws attention to my best features & its easier to travel with as ill be visiting family this christmas!"

What will you be wearing this for and why?
"Ill defiantly be wearing it for a christmas party with family and friends! Its festive but its defiantly better then a home-knitted jumper haha"

Hope you guys liked this post and ill have more up soon!

Okay so winter is quickly approaching and as we know, everything changes during this time of year. The weather, our trends, our activities & our moods, its almost christmas we're all smiling!
So i put together a series of blog posts designed around winter to tell you all the must haves for different categories. Im starting out with makeup as its november and you may have christmas events coming up that you want to switch around your makeup for , so here are my top must-haves for winter 2011 beauty checklist!

For Eyes, You will need-

3 eyeshadows, A brown, neutral toned gold & shimmery champagne colour (My ones are satin taupe, All that glitters & nylon)
A volumizing mascara that will give you glamourous lashes.
□ A soft but smudge proof eyeliner to accentuate your eyes.

For lips you will need 3 lip colours to experiment with this season..

□ A Dark purple berry colour.(ninna ricci No.12)

□ A full on red.(mac Russian red)
□ A safer colour like light dolly pink(Nars roman holiday)

I like to keep these 3 colour matte , ass they will stay on longer however you could add a gloss to make it pop and shine more.

For cheeks alternate between a cream blush and a powder.

□ A rosy pink (bobbi brown pot rouge in 'pale pink'

□ A dusty peach (mac 'gingerly')

Last but most importantly a rich lip balm. The best ones are mac,
Korres and dior creme de rose.

Hope you enjoyed this post & a new one soon!

Sophie.
